Little White Birds

Do you like this little whit birdie? Me too! Here is how you can have some of these fun spring birds in your home too..
go to the dollar store and pick out some birds of your choice.. and spray them with white primer....

after the primer has dried, "antique" them with dark walnut stain, by putting it on  lightly and then rubbing the excess back off.  Don't get too carried away with the stain or they will be "brown" birds not white.lol!
display them however you like... I put mine in a white dish"thrift store find" with some burlap and moss... so cute they made me chirp!

More "Spring Makeovers"

I like how my bookcase turned out so well, and brightened up my living room I decided the end table and   my thrift store frame needed the same treatment!...
again, first I primed them black...
then i painted them white...
glazed them with watered down black latex paint, and then stained them both with dark walnut stain, after sanding each one first where i wanted them distressed...
Love it!!!!!

Spring Break Make over Book Case

This is my old bookcase minus the glass doors  I already took off. It is boring and tired with "peeling wood paper" on the doors...

first I spray painted the whole book case except the very back with black primer after lightly sanding...
then I spray painted white over the top, however , I did not like the coverage so I broke out the old paintbrush and painted two coats of white over this coat...
After sanding the edges and all the places I wanted distressed, I watered down black latex paint and brushed it on a section at a time wiping the excess off with a towel... After glazing or washing it with the black I sanded it a little more on the edges and then stained the whole entire piece with dark walnut stain let dry...
while it was drying I took the the flimsy back piece off the bookcase and mod podged fabric over the whole thing...
After the mod podge was dry I used my handy dandy staple gun and  stapled the backing on again...
Beautiful!!

I am so happy with how it turned out, What a transformation!Definately  drab to fab!

re-purposed life lesson#1...

Not only do I love to re-purpose or make just about anything... I also have to be available to let my life be "re-purposed" as well. My life got a major make over when I became a mother and realized that my calling was to stay at home with my children, then home schooling followed and a ton of re-purposing as God continues to mold me, and change me into the person that brings glory to Him in all Things!(even though I am rough around the edges! lol) Lately I haven't been on the top of my game in the joyful and content category?(anybody relate?) I have been praying and seeking wisdom on why this attitude of mine kept hanging around... so that s when it hit me... last night while I was reading before bed, "It is not just loving our children, but embracing the role of motherhood that releases us into the joy and glory of our divine career." Ouch!  I do love my children and count my job as such a privilege, but I am not demonstrating that through my self pity, or frustration. Time to put some JOY and gentleness, and meekness on around here!
Good bye Mrs. Selfish....Hello Mommy!
