I needed something to transport my posies around in...of course any old bag wouldn't do, |
a normal basket would not either...off to the thrift store and I found this adorable round suitcase...Cheap...and UGLY ... just the way I like it!!!Time to work some magic and break out the mod podge, fabric, scissors, and (husbands) exacto knife!
I
Cut the fabric so it overhangs slightly... |
This is how you will want the edge of your fabric to be right up next to the metal trim ...use your knife blade to push excess down tightly and then trim ... |
but first before you go a trimming, apply copious amounts of mod podge all over the suit case and smooth the fabric over it. |
O.K. back to this pic again, I had to pleat the fabric a few times in order for the fabric to lay smooth on the round suitcase, I covered one entire half and trimmed it, then flipped the suitcase over and did the other side. Make sure blade is very sharp!(makes this job much easier) |
Now , that entire outside is covered and trimmed around handle and hinges, I added copious amounts of mod podge to the entire outside making sure to get it under the pleats and pressing them flat with my fingers... Make sure you don't glue it shut... it took a razor blade to get mine open!lol |
I let the whole suitcase dry overnight and woo hoo! Look how cute it is ! (please don't notice the messy kitchen behind it I was neglecting while mod podging) |
This handle has to go! Trying to decide what to do, leaning towards beading a new one. I will update the handle later... |
This is my case all filled with posies ready for a trunk show. I Love it! Total cost $6:00 |
